8 Days/7 Nights Road Safari – Best of Kenya

A Phoenix Safaris guide will accompany you. He will be available for all questions and it would give him pleasure to share his experience as a guide with you. You will visit the Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park and the Masai Mara.

Day 1 Mount Kenya National Park | Serena Mountain Lodge

serena-mountain-lodgeYour journey starts early in the morning with a drive to the Central Highlands of Kenya to explore one of the most fertile and populated regions of the country. En route you will pass the vast pineapples estates of Thika representing Kenya’s chief fruit export. You will arrive at Serena Mountain Lodge (2.194 metres high) for lunch. It is located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the second highest Mountain in Africa. The lodge is surrounded by dense rainforest and the nearby waterhole is visited by many wild animals. Enjoy the observation of the animals or use the opportunity to do an accompanied nature walk on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya.

Day 2-3 Samburu National Park | Samburu Interepids

samburu-intrepidsAfter your breakfast the journey goes to the north, to the Samburu National Park located in the ‘Great Rift Valley,’ which is a hauntingly beautiful semi-arid desert region. The region is characterized by animals not found in other parts of Kenya such as reticulated giraffe, the oryx with its long horns, the Grevy zebra and the gerenuk oddly perched on its hind legs to graze on the acacia trees. You will stay at Samburu Intrepids, a luxury tented camp on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River, the home of the Nile crocodile and wild Vervet monkeys. The Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp is an ideal place to spend some time in the Northern game reserve. Every tent has its own porch with a fascinating view of the banks of Ewaso Nyiro. You will explore Samburu National Park, by way of early morning and afternoon on game drives.

Day 4 – Sweetwaters Sanctuary | Sweetwaters Tented Camp

sweetwatersYou arrive at ‘Sweetwaters Tented Camp’ for lunch. The camp is placed in the heart of the private Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary which is over 88km² big. Apart from doing game drives you may choose to visit the Chimp Sanctuary in the afternoon. Your tent faces a waterhole and the salt lick where numerous plain animals can be observed. At nightfall this scene is artificially lit so an interesting view of the wild animals is guaranteed around the clock. Furthermore you are bound to have unobstructed views of Mount Kenya.

Day 5 – Lake Nakuru National Park | Lake Nakuru Lodge

lake-nakuru-lodgeAfter breakfast you will drive to Lake Nakuru (via Thomson Falls) Nakuru is arguably the most renowned among Kenya's Rift Valley lakes and one of the best known African parks in all the world, with its alkaline waters fringed at times by more than one million flamingos. Lake Nakuru is also a sanctuary for rhinos with a population of more than 30 black and white rhinos. You will check in at Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch and go on a game drive in the afternoon.

Day 6-7 – Masai Mara | Mara Siria Luxury Tent Camp

mara-siria-campYou depart after an early breakfast. Passing the northern flank of the extinct volcanoes of Suswa and Logonot you will arrive at Mara Siria Camp on the western flank of Masai Mara for lunch. The Masai Mara together with the Tanzanian Serengeti is a giant ecosystem where animals are living free. It is famous for the biggest African population of lions. There you have the best chance of seeing the ‘Big-Five’ – elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards. Few places on the continent of Africa or elsewhere can compare with the multitudes of wild animals in the Mara. Other activities include nature walks and mountainbiking.

Day 8 – Nairobi

After a morning game drive and breakfast depart for Nairobi.
