gorillasRwanda is located in Central Africa and is bordered by Uganda in the North, Burundi to the South, Tanzania to the East and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) in the West. Rwanda is often referred to as the "Land of a thousand hills" because the landscape is very mountainous, with a combination of a temperate and humid climate all year. The main attraction is the primate population, especially the Mountain Gorillas: one of the most impressive wildlife viewing experiences in the world. Rwanda is the most densely populated country in Africa. French, English and Kinyarwanda are the most widely spoken languages of its 8 million inhabitants. The country bears the burden of its recent history (civil war and genocide), but the country has made a great progress today and visitors to Rwanda will be amazed by how willing people are to talk openly about what happened in the past. Peace and stability have returned in recent years.
